A Life of Přinašeč

CHILDHOOD
Let’s get back to the beginning, to little Joseph in Prague’s Nusle. From this moment, I will start calling him Mr J.Z. Here he lives his childhood which is not too different from others’. It is filled with boys’ adventures. Mr J.Z. sometimes remembered with a smile on his face a Sunday trip when a smartly-dressed family set off for Vyšehrad. What interests a young man most is tunnels. Mr J.Z. discovered such a tunnel, full of mud during this walk. Then he slid through it in his perfectly ironed navy suit. He remembered his mother’s face when he appeared again. He also remembered his grandma’s skirts where he often tended to hide from his parents’ authority. After all, apart from pampering, this has always been the basic duty of all grandmothers all over the world.
