BIRTH
On 30th March 1912, just one hundred years ago, son Josef was born to the wife of the director of a chocolate factory. As he often said later, he nipped down to be born similarly to Jesus from N to B (from Nazareth to Bethlem).
One Easter his mother had decided to leave Prague’s Nusle, 237, Havličkova Street, where they had been living, to go to Brno, where her husband had been working.
The day before she left, still in Prague, she had had an unusual dream. In the dream, the Virgin Maria approached her bed and put a young boy into her arms. Her beautiful dream came true on her birthday, March 30th. Fate wanted that two, or actually three, of them returned home in puerperium. His father returned with them to Prague as he had finished his work in Brno in the meantime - because he had taken over the executive representation of the factory he had been employed with, together with the representation of the Swiss chocolate company Tobler for the whole Bohemia and Moravia. Later he also represented the Moravian company Kufferle which produced well-known chocolate.
During the following years the family grew larger after the birth of two more sons.
